Periodontal disease

Causes of periodontal disease:

• Bacterial dental plaque
• Hormonal changes(pregnancy, pubertet)
• Diseases( diabetes mellitus, hypertention)
• Stress
• Medication

Symptoms of periodontal disease:

• Gum bleeding when you brush your teeth
• Swollen and tender gums
• Feel pain in your gums
• Bad breathe
• Pus between your teeth and gums
• Teeth movement

Treatment of periodontal disease:

• It depends upon the level of gum disease
• Nonsurgical therapies are used to control the bacterial growth: scaling and root planning
• Surgical therapies – to repair the supportive tissues: closed and open curettage, flap operation, teeth splinting

Tooth discoloration

Reasons:

• Smoking
• Poor dental hygiene
• Age
• Trauma
• Genetic reason
• Diseases

Prophylaxis:

• Limit smoking
• Improvement of dental hygiene
• Scaling and polishing every 6 months
